Crowd funding is becoming increasingly popular among creatives. With more site springing up and more artists asking for funds, Don’t Take Pictures spotlights projects that benefit the arts community.
This month’s crowd funding roundup presents a memorial fund in the name of Khadja Saye.
Khadija Saye Memorial Fund
Friends and supporters of the artist Khadija Saye, who was tragically killed in the recent Grenfell Tower fire London, have launched a crowd funding campaign to create a memorial fund in her honor. The fund is being set up by Nicola Green (Saye’s mentor), Dave Lewis, and Ingrid Swenson to provide financial support to young artists like Saye to help them realize their potential. They are hoping to raise £50,000 for young artists who may face adversity financially or otherwise to study, intern, or be mentored in pursuit of their passion as artists. Once the goal has been reached, the founders will establish a formal fund and decide, with input from others who knew Saye, the best way to channel donations.
