The Society of Camera Operators has put together a beautiful montage of the history of the motion picture camera. The short film is comprised of iconic cinema moments interspersed with behind-the-scenes footage and photographs of the cameras themselves and the operators who manipulate them. The chronology begins in the earliest days of fast-moving characters in the silent film era, introducing sound into the black-and-white pictures, and moving into color before giving us glimpse of the technical feats that make for movie magic.
