Bill Jay was a photographer, a writer on and advocate of photography, a curator, and the first editor of Creative Camera Owner magazine and founder and editor of Album magazine. He established Do Not Bend Gallery in London, the first gallery dedicated to photography in the UK and became the first Director of Photography at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. The United Nations of Photography, in collaboration with Producer, Director, Researcher and Editor Grant Scott, have created Do Not Bend: The Photographic Life of Bill Jay, a 90 minute documentary film on his life and work. Jay passed away at in 2009 and the film is comprised of prominent voices in photography speaking about his life as well as footage of Jay himself.
