Earlier this year the art world lost the great conceptual photographer John Baldessari. In just under six minutes, this film by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s inaugural Art & Film Gala is a quirky, fast-moving, and informative look at the cultural impact of Baldessari’s work. Narration by Tom Waits is Interspersed between quick-cuts of an interview with Baldessari in his studio and images of his workspace, exhibition highlights, and studio footage.
