“Before there were smartphones, people actually took pictures with cameras on film.” Says filmmaker Andrew Saladino, “this 35mm Yamasheta is one of those cameras. Now broken and dead, The Royal Ocean Film Society takes a look back at the life that it lived through the photos it took.” With a snappy soundtrack (“See You All” by Koudlam) and quick cuts, Saladino’s five-minute short film tells the story of a Yamasheta 35mm film camera over a decades of use through the perspective and photos of the camera. The film ends with the camera watching TV footage of significant moments over the last decades and how our world has changed, and with it, our technology.
