Yesterday, #AskACurator Day took place on Twitter. This is the ninth year of the initiative, the brain-child of Mar Dixon. This year 1,489 museums in 58 countries took part in the social media experiment. As museums struggle to attract younger visitors and members, #AskACurator Day is a great way to open up the channels of communication about what it’s like to be a curator and what goes on in the museum offices. How does it work? Institutions have different approaches, but the most common is that people can ask a curator a question on Twitter by tagging the museum and ending with the hashtag #askacurator This year’s questions included ghost stories, curating and dating, and requests for dog pictures:
