SCHOOL DAYS

The first day of school picture is a time-honored tradition. Grinning (or pouting) children wait for the bus or pose with their sibling sporting new backpacks and lunch boxes. The phrase ‘school time’ conjures memories of childhood, but parents and teachers have their own visual associations beyond the posed portrait. From supplies and blackboards to sports and social events; whether constructed or documented, for School Days, Don’t Take Pictures presents photographs from or about school days.

The exhibition is on view November 20 — February 18. See our previous exhibitions.
